사티바, 인디카, 하이브리드
이 용어들의 원래 의미와, 작용을 거의 예측하지 못하는 이유.
“사티바는 활기를, 인디카는 졸음을” – 자주 듣는 말입니다. 하지만 식물학과 일상 언어에서 이 용어들은 아주 다르게 쓰입니다. 100개가 넘는 대마 샘플의 유전 분석 결과, ‘사티바’와 ‘인디카’ 라벨은 게놈 전체 수준의 유전적 근연 관계를 반영하지 않고 주로 소수의 향 성분(테르펜)과 관련이 있었습니다(Watts 외, Nature Plants 2021).

Why I Look at Morphology & Terpenes Rather Than “Sativa/Indica” Labels
In the grow tent you quickly see how right the genetic studies are: the label “Indica” or “Sativa” mainly tells you whether a plant grows compact and broad-leaved (BLD) or tall and narrow-leaved (NLD) and how much it stretches in early bloom. Its aroma and character, however, come down to its specific terpene and cannabinoid profile (chemovar) and trichome ripeness at harvest.
